FEVER RAY RA 178

Karin Dreijer Andersson, aka Fever Ray or the sister from Swedish pop brother & sister duo The Knife has released the latest Resident Advisor podcast. RA.178 is a Halloween-themed special and with this girls creepy vocals, she could have just sung over some beats and it would be dark enough.
you can check an interview with Fever Ray about the mixx on Resident Advisor or in brief  Andersson puts it :: " i think the eclectic and wide range of music makes it more dynamic and more intense. The tracks affects each other, they get even more mean."

A-Track remixes Yeah Yeah Yeahs

St Jerome's Laneways Festival

Auckland will host New Zealand’s first St Jerome's Laneways Festival. It all started in Melbourne in 2004 by Jerome Borazio and Danny Rogers when they decided that summers in Melbourne would be far better with more live music in unique settings.
They started by putting on bands in a Melbourne club called St Jerome's Bar each Sunday afternoon featuring fresh bands of the time like The Presets and Architecture in Helsinki. Then it became a monthly club night called Brains featuring the Avalanches as resident DJ’s (luckeey!!) Still not satisfied that they were doing enough, Borazio and Rogers decided they could close the lane behind the bar, remove the bins and throw a proper laneway party.
From there St Jerome's Laneways Festival spread to Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and now Britomart Square in Auckland’s CBD.

So far, the Auckland edition of the festival features:

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN
FLORENCE & THE MACHINE
DIRTY THREE
THE 3D’S
THE XX
BLACK LIPS
N.A.S.A
CUT OFF YOUR HANDS
FAMILY CACTUS
DEAR TIMES WASTE

And there is a second announcement in December!!

Head to Laneways website for more info mofo

because we are pretty much best friends now here is a treat for you::
Florence and the Machine made the song and The XX remixed it and they are both playing at Laneways.. intertextual

new LCD SS

One of my favourite bands LCD Soundsystem [who are doing a dj set at Rhythm & Vines (oh yeah!!)] are prepping their soon to be released third album and if it’s anything like Sounds of Silver and their self-titled debut, it should be pretty bloody goood.
On facebook front man James Murphy made some comments on LCD SS’s new material::

"The art is photos by Ruvan Wijesooriya and graphics by DFA super-designer Mike Vadino of Bureau. The mastering for the vinyl (and digi) is by my engineer hero, original mentor, and best vinyl cutter ever, Bob Weston of Shellac at Chicago mastering. I'm honestly really excited."
"Should be a certain number of free downloads of the new single when it's ready. I must say, though, that we're trying to make the vinyl include a free download, so I recommend that. Mainly because we worked really hard on the art and the mastering, and we're proud of it."
Aaand now you can stream all twenty two tracks off the new album from
The album is said to be released in March 2010.
The band is also releasing a new single which isn’t off the new album. Due for release in November, the track is entitled Bye Bye Bayou and is a cover of Alan Vega's 1980 original.
you can stream both LCD Soundsystem's and Vega's versions of the song

happy 40th bFM

the greatest radio station in the history of new zealand broadcasting turned 40 years old this year and to celebrate, listeners and the stations djs voted on their top 95 songs of the past 40 years.
on saturday they counted down and played each of the 95 most voted tunes live to air finishing with the epic local track Jesus I was Evil by the late Darcy Clay.
Darcy lived in Birkenhood as a young lad so we send massive respect to him, his family, his music and the mammoth amount of voters who put Jesus I was Evil at the top.
